Stepping out of Familiar Territory

As an educator, it’s disheartening to see that some of my students don’t have the motivation to learn.  They don’t put in any effort and say the assignment is difficult.  I feel the word difficult should be taken out of the dictionary.  I agree with my foreign language college professor when he told us students that the challenging tasks are not khó (“difficult”) but rather they are lẻ (“odd”).

Back to my word of advice.  Change your perspective.  View the challenging tasks as odd.  Make the tasks less foreign by familiarizing yourself with those tasks.  Do not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone (AKA “familiar territory”).  There are positive outcomes with effort.  When you allow yourself to try new things, you will learn and achieve.

If any of you readers have any school-related or life-related questions, please let me know!

Until next time, make good choices and live a healthy lifestyle.
